Turning a Dream into Reality

The organization directed the youth to Tarjimly to connect with Spanish speaking translators in an effort to attain accurate translations in order to fully grasp and understand each individual's dream clearly.

An organization for migrant youth in Tijuana hosted art workshops as a way of encouraging the youth to craft visual representations of their dreams and aspirations for resettlement in the United States. The organization struggled to grasp some of the participants’ dreams expressed through art due to the language barrier. Using Tarjimly interpreters, the organization was able to help the youth translate their visions and the profound descriptions that accompanied their art pieces. With the help of audio messages, the youth were able to communicate their goals in Spanish, and have them understood by the English-speaking organization staff. Each art piece was later published in a youth migration magazine to draw attention to the struggles of resettlement and migration that the youth of Tijuana face.

This isn't the story of one doctor or one refugee. Thousands of vulnerable individuals and families are left without care due to language barriers. When an aid worker's lack of ability to communicate hinders their ability to accommodate and assist refugees, an organization's ability to impact real change is limited. Tarjimly is here to bridge that divide, and to provide on-demand translation services for aid workers, whenever and where ever they may be.
